Zabada
Zabada is a word that I made up a long time ago. It means nothing and everything. I literally picked up my acoustic guitar one day and strummed a four-chord progression in a 3/4 time signature and sang the lyrics of the first verse without thinking about it. I sat down and wrote a second verse in the same spirit of the first verse.

Influence: I was listening to Love’s awesome Forever Changes album a lot when I wrote this. I think that the melody was somewhat influenced by this record.

Your rendition of “Zabada” was awesome!
Here’s what was on the paper that was in the guitar case. It’s one way to play a major scale on guitar. The way that it is drawn, it is “A major”. Practice doing this back and forth over and over and over! Since it is “A major”, you can “noodle” along with “Zabada” and you can improvise and play your own solo as you get better! Good luck.

Then, to play two octaves, play what is on the image below.

Oh, yeah, and the numbers above relate the the finger to use to play each note (as I’ve drawn on other sheets for you). 1=index finger; 2=middle finger; 3=ring finger; 4=pinky!
For fun, compare an contrast how you do this on the piano vs. the guitar! Pretty soon you will be an all around music master!

The thing about getting a YouTube account is that you need an email address to make one.
Maybe if you ask you parents if you can get an email address and share the password with them so that they can make sure that you are being good, then they’ll let you. Just a thought. Don’t pressure them too hard or say that “Rob said that it was okay” because I didn’t necessarily say so it was okay. They are the boss and they have your best interest in mind!
Keep writing songs. I know you can do it! Maybe we can record a whole short album worth over Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I started my first guitar lesson today.
Went well.
The guy was like a hippy.
Long hair, old, glasses, plad shirt- unbuttonned with undershirt.
AND to top it all of- a small smoky room with a TON of insense. The room was just full of it. The smell was so strong- it was…..UGHH!!!!
But the dude himself, VERY nice guy- taught me different ways to play chords- was VERY impressed by the martin slim body guitar; litterally. You should meet him sometime.
