Bought a Mandolin and Did This Silly Version of “Waterfalls”
Last week, I bought a mandolin at Old Town School of Folk Music, stopping at Taco Bell on the way home where I heard TLC’s “Waterfalls”. The song stuck in my head, so when I got home, I learned 4 chords and did this… Stick with it, there’s a VERY SPECIAL guest who joins me for the rap part!
That’s great. Is a mandolin easy to pick up and learn? I like the rap, sounds like the website that makes a movie out of what you type in. Can’t remember what it’s called at the moment.
John, it isn’t too tough to pick up most of the basic chords on mandolin (especially if you already know guitar, though the chord fingerings on mandolin are very different than those on guitar). I do struggle a bit with my fat fingers on that tiny fretboard, but I think with a little practice it won’t be too hard to get good enough to add a little mandolin flavor to a few tracks on the 2011 as-yet-untitled Rob Lambert album
