TV Series Gluttony
One of the great guilty pleasures that is available to us in the age of DVD box sets and iTunes video downloads is the ability to watch an entire TV series uninterrupted. I never watched the American version of The Office until a few episodes into Season Two. After talking with a co-worker about it, I decided to check it out. Oh the joy of watching the 8 episodes of season one and then the next 4 episodes of season two that were available at that point, all in a row! I’d plop down the $1.99 at iTunes, Mary and I would watch an episode. Then we’d ask, “One more?” We’d, of course, say “OK”. I’d plop down another $1.99 . . . repeat until we’d watched ‘em all.
This past December we successively rented each of the DVD’s from the most excellent and under-appreciated Freaks and Geeks. Seriously, you should go out and buy or rent it. It’s super good. Anyway, I think that we watched every one of the eighteen one-hour episodes in one week. It was sinfully great to watch that much good TV in a row (and commercial free)! TV series gluttony! We couldn’t've done that when we were kids, huh?
Hey, “couldn’t've” is funny looking huh? I know that it is probably not proper, but I don’t think that any of my old English teachers are going to be grading me. And if one of them is reading, hey, the readership of my drivel is 25% higher than I thought it was!
