Rails 1.0, Excellent New Website
Congrats to DHH and the Ruby on Rails folks for wrapping 1.0.
They have just redesigned their website (rubyonrails.org) , and man, is it nice. It just COMMUNICATES so well. It is extremely friendly to folks who have never heard of Rails. I won't pick on any particular sites, but compare this website to that of your favorite non-Rails web application framework website and imagine that you had never used that framework before. Most are extremely overwhelming and it takes days to get a grasp on what the technology is REALLY all about.
The design is typical 37signals, but that's a good thing.
The screencasts are cool and are a really great way to get an unambiguous understanding of what Rails is all about in a very short amount of time.
The Rails folks have done such a good job marketing this project. Of course, it makes a it a lot easier that it is a great project and it is easy to be enthusiastic about, but there have been plenty of cool technology projects that have never been successful or no one knows about because the creators didn't know how to get the word out and build a community.
Kudos to 37signals and the Rails team, keep up the good work!
