First Rails App … 45tunes.com
So I hacked out my first Rails app this weekend. Nothing too complicated, not even any db persistence yet. But it was a good exercise for kicking the Rails/Ruby tires. Basically it is just yet another Amazon affiliate site showing CDs with really just two pages, search and item detail.
The most important thing is that I registered a Proper Web2.0 Name . . . www.45tunes.com
. As Jason Huggins noted, a proper Web2.0 website must fit the following form: [integer][plural-noun].com .
Overall, my Rails experience so far is good. I really like the built in dev/test/prod environments. I really like the all of the built in things that you need, such as caching.
I'll probably add a few more features to this over the next few days before I abandon this micro-project and look for a new one, or more likely, get wrapped up in working at my REAL job.
'Til then, check it out, buy some tunes, you know you want to!
